We’re talking about how we caught Bloomberg’s attention in New York, celebrated National Farmer’s Day in Bojonegoro, and several prestigious speaking engagements — what else? But we love September as much as ever, hope you do too!
HARA at Bloomberg’s Data for Good Exchange Conference in New York
Bloomberg, a leading global business, technology, and media company, hosted its 6th annual Data for Good Exchange Conference in New York, USA. HARA was the only Indonesian startup chosen to speak at the conference. With the theme of “Data Science for the SDGs,” the conference brought over 500 data experts across industries to share insights on data innovations needed to achieve the UN SDGs by 2030.
Larissa Sidarto, HARA Director of Business Development and Marketing, and Magisha Thohir, Business Analyst, shared HARA’s experience in using data to promote financial inclusion for smallholder farmers in Indonesia. Lack of data and transparency in Indonesia’s agriculture sector resulted in a low level of financial inclusion, excluding farmers from formal financial services. HARA’s model has shown promising results in utilizing data to make the invisible become accessible.
Hari Tani Nasional Celebration
On September 24, both HARA Agripreneurs and farmers celebrated National Farmer’s Day in Bojonegoro. This day is to honor and celebrate the importance of farmers as well as the agrarian future in Indonesia.
Our field team organized a series of gatherings and socialization on how to apply horticultural farming at home. Horticultural crops can play a vital role to improve nutrition that is rich in vitamins, minerals, and alkaloids and in return increases incomes and job opportunities for them. With the help of HARADepo, our team gave training on plant conservation, soil management, and landscape maintenance to improve plant growth, yields, quality, and nutritional value.

CSIS Global Dialogue
The 2019 CSIS Global Dialogue, organized by the Centre for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) and Pacific Economic Cooperation Council (PECC), focused on intellectual discussions regarding the ongoing rapid advancement of technology and its impact on the global economy.
At the conference, Zuhri (CTO) shared about how data take a huge part in the new technology frontier. Some famous faces also appeared on stage such as Sophia, the famous humanoid robot; Sri Mulyani, Indonesia’s Minister of Finance; Rudiantara, Indonesia’s Minister of Communication and Information Technology; and Mari Pangestu, Indonesia’s former Minister of Trade.
SpiceUp Design Sprint
SpiceUp, an Indonesian sustainable geodata for pepper farming company, together with the Sustainable Trade Initiative (IDH) and Daylight Design, an international design firm, held a Design Sprint in Pangkal Pinang, Bangka. Participants came from across the world — Germany, Nigeria, Netherlands, India, and Indonesia from different backgrounds to create a platform for Indonesian pepper farmers on which farming data can be exchanged in ways that are valuable for farmers and client stakeholders alike.
Anjani Siddhartha, our business analyst, took part in the event and shared her point of view to involving potential users and client stakeholders as part of this process.
Smart & Digitalization Farming Conference
Imron Zuhri (CTO) was invited as a speaker at the Smart & Digitalization Farming Conference 2019. Organized by AVVF International, the conference addressed implementations in the farm, field and supply chain, and showcased use cases from players across the sector. Zuhri discussed how agritech companies improve the growth of the agriculture landscape in Indonesia.
